EL CAJON- California State Senator Joel Anderson is partnering with Volunteers in Medicine (VIM) and the VSP Global Eyes of Hope mobile eye care clinic to provide access to eye exams and glasses on Thursday, Mar. 1, 2018 to  qualified patients. This event will be hosted at VIM’s San Diego County location at 1547 East Madison Avenue, El Cajon, CA 92019 from 8:30am to 5pm.

VSP network doctors will provide comprehensive eye exams through the VSP Global Eyes of Hope mobile eye care clinic. The clinic mirrors an eye doctor’s office and is equipped with an eye exam room, popular eyewear brands, and a finishing lab for glasses. Representatives of Senator Anderson’s office will be present to address constituent concerns and issues. “I am so proud to be working with VSP Global and Volunteers in Medicine to bring these critical services to the underserved communities in San Diego County,” Anderson shared.

VIM is a non-profit organization specializing in servicing the needs of uninsured and working-class patients. In 2016 VIM served 400,000 uninsured patients and had more than 10,500 volunteers throughout the country. San Diego VIM’s CEO Maureen Hardin shared, “Having Senator Anderson bring the VSP Global Eyes of Hope mobile eye care clinic to our free clinic is a wonderful opportunity for our uninsured patients to receive much needed eye exams and eyeglasses. On behalf of our patients, we are so grateful to the VSP network doctors participating.”

For those that are interested, a pre-screening application is required through VIM to ensure prospective patients are qualified. To see if you are qualified and to make an appointment, VIM can be reached at 619-440-4591.
